Langdebeve (Ox Tongue)

This beautiful medieval war spear has many names: Langue de Boeuf', Langdebeve, Ox-tongue and is very similar to the legendary partisan type of spear. Langdebeve was a very efficient tool, able to chop, cut, and stab.

The original shape was in use from the XV all the way through the XVIII century. You can view Ox-Tongue polearms on medieval miniatures and historical drawings that are found in museums and private collections all around Western Europe.

We've made two versions of this toy for full-contact medieval battles and buhurt sport.

  • The buhurt-sport design has increased chopping ability and a reduced point/tip - stabbing is forbidden in most versions of buhurt sport.

  • The broad-headed, double-edged spear has a very high hit rate: being in line with the shaft, the blade almost never twists during contact and can be used to hit with both sides.

  • The Ox-tongue polearm has the incredible ability to break an opponent's shaft - trying to block the strikes of this weapon is a bad idea, and will cause powerful damage to the weapon and wrist if your opponent doesn’t disengage.

  • The short version has fast attack speed and is fantastic for duels and mass battles.

  • The long version has more weight and greatly increases the ability to knock-out your foe with one well-placed strike.

  • It's also fun to use both of them on shorter shafts. It will never be stuck in the opponent's armor after the hit. It’s a tool that shocks and stuns. Even if the opponent is still standing after your hit, he will slow down, squat, and look around seriously confused.

I love this tool, and I’m sure you’re gonna love it, too!
